Site preparation and grading

We review the proposed work, available plans and site access before preparing the area for construction. Clearing, grading and compaction are considered alongside the required elevations and subsequent work. Soil testing and stabilization requirements are coordinated with the appropriate project professionals.

  • Land clearing and site preparation
  • Grading and leveling
  • Compaction
  • Soil-testing and stabilization coordination

Foundation and retaining-wall excavation

Excavation for new buildings, garages, barns, additions and retaining walls needs to follow the project plans and account for access around the work. We coordinate the excavation package with foundations, drainage and the next construction stages.

  • Residential and commercial foundation excavation
  • Garage, barn and addition sites
  • Retaining-wall excavation
  • Coordination with formwork and drainage

Utility trenching

We provide trench excavation for electrical, plumbing and sewer-related work. The scope identifies the trench requirements, access and responsibility for utility identification and installation. Excavation is coordinated with the contractors responsible for the connected systems.

  • Electrical service trenches
  • Water and plumbing trenches
  • Sewer-related excavation
  • Coordination with utility plans and installing trades

Roadway and parking-area excavation

Sitework for roads, drives and parking areas can be delivered as a separate package or as part of the complete site project. Include existing surfaces, vehicle routes and proposed drainage in the review so preparation connects properly to the paving scope.

  • Roadway and access-drive excavation
  • Parking-lot preparation
  • Grading around site concrete
  • Coordination with paving and drainage work

Surface and subsurface drainage

Drainage work starts with understanding the site and where water needs to be collected or directed. We discuss surface and subsurface work, stormwater requirements and connections to other construction. The proposal identifies installation work and any separate assessment or design responsibilities.

  • Stormwater and surface drainage
  • Subsurface drainage installation
  • Grading and drainage interfaces
  • Coordination with specified collection and discharge points

Demolition and debris removal

Removal and site clearance may be needed before new construction can begin. Send details and photographs of the existing work, along with access restrictions and the area to remain in place. We establish the demolition and debris-removal scope before proceeding.

Erosion control and stabilization

We coordinate erosion-control work with the site conditions and specified requirements. Depending on the project, the scope may include retaining-wall work, drainage, geotextiles, vegetation or landscape stabilization. Assessment, specification and installation responsibilities are established during planning.

Frequently asked questions

All project FAQs
Can excavation be included in a complete construction project?

Yes. We can include excavation with foundations, concrete work and complete residential or commercial construction, or undertake a defined sitework package.

What information do you need to assess the work?

Send the site location, proposed work, available plans and access details. Include known utilities, drainage concerns, existing structures and any activity that must be considered while the site is occupied.

Do you install the utilities as well as dig the trench?

The proposal distinguishes excavation from the connected utility work. We coordinate with the trades responsible for electrical, plumbing or other systems and establish each party’s scope before work begins.

Can you help with grading and drainage concerns?

Yes. Tell us where water collects, when it appears and what you want to change. We review the site and discuss grading or drainage work, including any assessment or design needed. Basement seepage should be considered alongside the water source and any foundation concerns before a drainage approach is selected.

How do we request an excavation estimate?

Call (518) 690-6863 or email info@capitolconcrete.com with the location, plans or photographs, access details and the work you want priced. We offer a free consultation and no-obligation estimate, with a site visit arranged as needed.
