What we can include.

  • Electrical service trench excavation
  • Water and plumbing trenches
  • Sewer-related excavation
  • Backfill and surface-restoration scope coordination

Establish the route and responsibilities

Utility plans, existing services and connection points guide the excavation. The proposed route also needs to account for driveways, landscape features and access to the property. Responsibility for utility identification, private services and installation details must be established before work begins.

Coordinate excavation with the installing trade

Trench dimensions, bedding, inspections and backfill requirements come from the applicable project details. Electrical or plumbing installation is not automatically part of the excavation package. Send the utility contractor’s requirements so trench work and the connected system can be scheduled together.

Include what happens after the trench is closed

A trench through a driveway has a different restoration scope from one crossing an undeveloped site. Identify pavement removal, replacement, grading and landscape restoration in the proposal. Access arrangements and the sequence for reopening affected areas should be discussed at the same time.

Pricing the complete scope

What affects the estimate?

Route length, required dimensions, surface removal, access, ground conditions, material handling and restoration affect pricing. The service installation and excavation may be separate contracts; compare the complete scope needed to finish the connection.

Before we meet.

Start with the property address and a description of the work. These details help us prepare for a useful conversation:

  • Utility plans, connection locations and installing-trade details
  • Photos of the route and the surfaces it crosses
  • Known services, access restrictions and schedule requirements

We discuss the scope and arrange a site visit. Your proposal identifies the included work, responsibilities and project-specific warranty terms. Changes to scope, cost or timing are documented before the changed work begins.

Questions about this work.

All project FAQs
Do you install the electrical or plumbing system?

This service covers excavation. The proposal explicitly identifies any additional construction and who installs the connected system. We coordinate trench work with the responsible utility trades.

Can a trench across concrete be restored?

We can discuss concrete removal and replacement as part of the scope. Existing finishes, repair limits, access and the construction sequence need review before an appearance or restoration method is agreed.
